How to Generate an Orthophoto Without Reprocessing Your Entire ROCK Dataset

If you've already processed a dataset in ROCK Desktop but skipped the orthophoto step, don’t worry — you can quickly generate an orthophoto without starting from scratch.

🚀 Quick Workflow Overview

Use this method if your dataset has:

  • Completed trajectory processing

  • Configured range gate, angle gate, and output settings

  • Skipped or failed orthophoto generation

“This process saves time and avoids full reprocessing. Just reuse the existing trajectory and output only the orthophoto mosaic.”

✅ Step-by-Step Instructions

  1. Open ROCK Desktop

    • Launch the application on your computer.

  2. Click Process ROCK Data

    • Choose Select Folder

    • Pick the dataset that has already been processed

  3. Select Use Existing Trajectory

    • Click Next

    • Confirm the trajectory looks correct

  4. Set Output Preferences

    • Toggle OFF: Generate Point Cloud

    • Toggle ON: Generate Ortho Mosaic

    • Adjust resolution: Choose 1 cm, 5 cm, or 10 cm

    • Optionally rename your output file

  5. Click Start Processing

    • The orthophoto will be created using the original dataset and existing trajectory

📌 Key Tips

  • This method avoids regenerating your point cloud

  • Ideal for projects where you originally skipped the ortho to save time

  • Use this with the R3 Pro V2 and compatible datasets
