ROCK Colorized SLAM DOCK V2 FAQs

Here are some common questions about using the ROCK Colorized SLAM Dock V2 with the ROCK R3 Pro V2 or R3 Pro

    • Can I use a SLAM Dock V2 with an R3 Pro LiDAR unit that has not been upgraded to an R3 Pro V2?
Yes, the SLAM Dock V2 will work with either the R3 Pro V2 or R3 Pro LiDAR units.
    • Is the order of turning on and off the ROCK R3 Pro (V2) and Insta360 camera important?
Yes, if you are collecting Colorized SLAM data, your Insta360 camera should be turned on before the R3 Pro, and turned off after the R3 Pro (V2).
  • Is there a limit to the amount of time I can collect my Insta360 and SLAM data?
This is dependent on the available storage on the camera and R3 Pro, please check this prior to collecting data.
  • Can I collect GPS data with my Colorized SLAM unit?
Yes, as long as you are using the GNSS receiver that came with your Colorized SLAM kit.  You cannot use the aerial GNSS receiver from your R3 Pro (V2), and connect that to your Colorized SLAM unit.  Please note that the Colorized SLAM with GPS offering is a beta feature at this time.
  • Is there any way to see my SLAM data being collected in real time?
No, not at this time.  You can check the light on your R3 Pro (V2) unit during data collection though.  If the light is blinking green, then SLAM data is being collected.
  • Do you have any videos about the Colorized SLAM offering
We are working to get new videos up to ROCK Academy, however the video from the Live Launch of the Colorized SLAM on 4/18/24 has some great content, and answers a number of customer questions.
  • I am having issues with my Insta360 camera being recognized by my computer, what can I do?
On the Insta360 camera, navigate to the Settings page, then verify that the USB mode is set to "U-Disk Mode".  Also if possible do not use any adapters when connecting your Insta360 camera to your computer.
  • How long should it take a Colorized SLAM dataset to process?
Processing times can vary depending on the total size and complexity of the dataset as well as your computer specifications.  ROCK recommends that if processing appears to be taking longer than expected, but you have not received an error message to allow ROCK Desktop to continue to process the data.
