How to fly the R3 Pro on the DJI M300 SDK V6
Setting up R3Pro for Use on DJI M300 SDK V6 for Aerial Data Collection
- Email support@rockrobotic.com to request the ROCK Pilot app and associated R3Pro firmware update.
- Update your R3Pro firmware.
- Install the ROCK Pilot app by using a memory card and copying the .apk file to the memory card on the computer. Then insert the memory card into the flight controller.
- Go to the .apk file in the "Files" or "Storage" on your flight controller. Select and install the app by tapping on the app .apk file. This installs the app on your flight controller.

HOW TO USE THE R3 PRO ON THE M300 SDK V6 - Aerial
- Install the R3Pro onto the DJI M300 SDK V6
- Power on the DJI M300 SDK V6 outside with a clear view of the sky
- Press the R3Pro power button once to power up your LiDAR and the R3Pro will begin broadcasting the wifi network.
- Join the LiDAR Wifi on your Android Device – R3PRO Password is 12345678
- If prompted, ignore the no internet connection warning - keep using the network
- Open the ROCK Pilot App on the flight controller
- Choose Airborne mode (this is just choosing the app layout, not the Mode)
- You will see the below screen, click the settings icon
- Confirm that the LiDAR is in the correct mode. Please click the Mode option.
- Your settings should be set to WiFi mode for M300 SDK V6 use. Select ‘WiFi’ and click Confirm.
- If it is in Wi-Fi mode already, you're ready for collection on the M300 SDK V6. You can double check by tapping away from this box, going back to the regular ROCK Pilot app screen and making sure you have satellite connections in the top left. Ensure you are outside when doing this.

- Upon clicking Confirm, you will see another popup prompting you to restart the LiDAR. Please turn off the LiDAR by pressing the power button on the R3Pro and holding for 5 seconds until the unit powers down or using the “Turn off the device” in the app.
- Once LiDAR is completely off, you can now close the Pilot App.
- Turn the R3 Pro back on and then you can use the Pilot app to check that the mode it set to Wi-Fi by going back to the Mode menu in the setting per Step 10a.
- Now you can use the 1 button method to fly!
- Once you have completed this process your R3PRO will automatically be in aerial mode when you attach to your M300 SDK V6.
HOW TO USE THE R3 PRO ON THE SLAM KIT - SLAM
If you have set up your R3PRO in aerial mode before your first SLAM acquisition your unit will automatically change modes without having to open the ROCK Pilot App. This only applies if you continue to fly your M300 on SDK V6. Once you upgrade your M300 to SDK V7 you will need to follow this article:
If you are trying to collect SLAM data, but the R3Pro is not actually in SLAM mode, the light on the R3 Pro will not turn green, but instead flash red. If you see a flashing red light- you need to follow these steps:
- Connect your R3Pro to the SLAM hardware
- Press the R3Pro power button once to power up your LiDAR and the R3Pro will begin broadcasting the wifi network.
- Join the LiDAR Wifi on your Android Device – R3PRO Password is 12345678
- If prompted, ignore the no internet connection warning - keep using the network
- Open the ROCK Pilot App on your Android Device
- Choose Slam Mode
- You will see the below screen, click the settings icon
- Confirm that the LiDAR is in the correct mode by clicking the Mode option.
- Your settings should be set to SLAM mode. Select ‘SLAM Mode’ and click Confirm.
- Upon clicking Confirm, you will see another popup prompting you to restart the LiDAR. Please turn off the LiDAR by pressing the power button on the R3Pro and holding for 5 seconds until the unit powers down or using the “Turn off the device” in the app.
- Once LiDAR is completely off, you can now close the Pilot App.
- Turn the R3 Pro back on and then you can use the Pilot app to check that the mode it set to SLAM by going back to the Mode menu in the settings.
- Now you can use the 1 button method to SLAM!
