Add Ground Control Points to Your Point Cloud

After successfully re-projecting your point cloud into your chosen Coordinate Reference System (CRS), it’s time to add Ground Control Points (GCPs) to the point cloud. This guide will walk you through the process.

Uploading GCPs

Here's a quick guide on how to upload and manage your GCPs:

  1. Verify Coordinate System
Ensure your GCPs are in the same coordinate system as your re-projected point cloud. For instance, if your point cloud is in "Colorado, North, State Plane, US Survey Feet," your GCPs should also be in this system. Confirm the EPSG code for your CRS (e.g., EPSG 6430).

  2. Add GCPs to Your Project
    To add GCPs:

    • Go to Manage Project.

    • Navigate to Add Ground Control Points.

    • You can upload a CSV file from your computer. Ensure your CSV is formatted correctly with columns for Title, XYZ, and Description.

Tip: Uploading a CSV is often faster than entering data manually.

  3. Upload and Verify

    • Click Upload CSV and select your file.
    • After uploading, ensure the CSV file is set up with the correct Title, XYZ, and Description columns.
    • Assign the correct CRS to these GCPs. Confirm that the suggested CRS matches your project’s requirements.
  4. Review GCPs
Once uploaded, your GCPs will appear as green points in your project. Verify that all points are correctly placed.
